First planting

Today was the day – the official first day of our 2023 growing season! We planted tomatoes, peppers, and assorted flowers in a 72 hex-cell seed starting tray. The tray sits on top of a Propagate Pro heat mat we bought back in 2017 for brewing kombucha. The heat ought to speed up the germination a bit. With the timing of this planting, we should have small, healthy plants to set out in our containers and garden by early to mid May.

Assorted seed packets, some old, some new, many saved from previous year's gardens.
It was a delight to reopen the seed bin and find some treasures to plant as well as an opportunity to get rid of some old seeds and empty seed packets.
